MEMBERS OF THE BOARD AND SUPERINTENDENT PACE, TODAY I AM PLEASED TO SHARE WITH YOU AN UPDATE ON THE PROGRESS OF THE HENRY COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOUNDATION. THE COMMUNITY INSPIRED STRATEGIC PLAN BROUGHT TO LIFE BY THIS BOARD, OUTLINES PRIORITY ACTIONS TO ENSURE A HIGH QUALITY, WORLD CLASS EDUCATION WITH EXCEPTIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND ACCESS FOR EVERY STUDENT. STRATEGIC ACTION THREE FOCUSES ON COMMUNITY AND STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT SO THAT ALL FAMILIES, STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES FEEL WELCOMED AND VALUED. THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE HENRY COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOUNDATION WAS A KEY COMMITMENT IDENTIFIED IN STRATEGIC ACTION THREE TO EXPAND OPPORTUNITIES TO SUPPORT STUDENTS, FAMILIES AND EMPLOYEES. TODAY'S BOARD REPORT SERVES AS THE CULMINATION OF THIS BOARD'S VISION FOR THE FOUNDATION. PUBLIC SCHOOL FOUNDATIONS ARE INTENDED TO BE A BRIDGE BETWEEN SCHOOLS AND THE COMMUNITY, FOSTERING ENGAGEMENT AND PROVIDING PHILANTHROPIC FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR INITIATIVES NOT OTHERWISE ACCESSIBLE THROUGH PUBLIC FUNDING. THE HENRY COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOUNDATION WAS ESTABLISHED TO PROVIDE AN AVENUE FOR INNOVATIVE OPPORTUNITIES THAT LEVERAGE RESOURCES, WHILE PROMOTING STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT IN THE SUCCESS OF HENRY COUNTY SCHOOLS. AS AN APPROVED NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION WITH A 500 1C3 STATUS, THEY ARE TAX EXEMPT AND ALL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FOUNDATION ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE. IT OPERATES UNDER APPROVED BYLAWS TO PROVIDE CLARITY AROUND TOPICS THAT INCLUDE THE SELECTION OF A BOARD OF TRUSTEES, BOARD OFFICERS, MEETINGS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, AND FISCAL POLICIES USING THE GUIDELINES SET FORTH IN THE BYLAWS. THE HENRY COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION APPOINTED THE FIRST FIVE BOARD OF TRUSTEE MEMBERS IN FALL OF 2024, WITH ADDITIONAL TRUSTEES COMING ON BOARD IN PREPARATION FOR THEIR FIRST MEETING IN FEBRUARY OF 2025. WE WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS OUR DEEP APPRECIATION FOR THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THE HENRY COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOUNDATION. MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ARE NOMINATED TO SERVE BY THE HENRY COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION, OR BY FELLOW BOARD OF TRUSTEE MEMBERS, AND SERVE IN A VOLUNTEER CAPACITY. THE FOUNDATION IS ONLY POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF THEIR DEDICATION AND COMMITMENT. THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES COLLABORATED TO DEFINE A CLEAR VISION AND MISSION THAT REPRESENTED THEIR COLLECTIVE VOICE AND DESIRE FOR THE FOUNDATION TO SERVE AS A CONDUIT FOR STUDENT AND STAFF SUCCESS. THEIR SELECTED VISION IS TO ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY AND INVEST RESOURCES THAT ENSURE ACCESS TO AN EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATION FOR ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF, AND THEIR MISSION IS TO INSPIRE AND EMPOWER OUR COMMUNITY TO SUPPORT EXCEPTIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL STUDENTS, PARENTS AND STAFF THROUGH THEIR COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS AND FOCUS ON OPPORTUNITIES AND RESOURCES. THEY ARE COMMITTED TO SUSTAINING THE WORLD CLASS EDUCATION THAT THE HENRY COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION HAS SET FORTH FOR OUR COMMUNITY. IN ADDITION TO IDENTIFYING A VISION AND MISSION, THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ESTABLISHED FUNDING PRIORITIES TO ALIGN WITH THE COMMUNITY INSPIRED STRATEGIC PLAN. THESE PRIORITIES INCLUDE THE PROVISION OF SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDENTS PURSUING HIGHER EDUCATION, FOSTERING STRONG RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN SCHOOLS AND THE COMMUNITY, SUPPORTING ARTS EDUCATION INITIATIVES, INVESTING IN STEM OPPORTUNITIES, PROMOTING ATHLETIC PROGRAMS, AND ENHANCING SUPPORTS FOR TEACHERS THROUGH RESOURCES FOR INNOVATIVE INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICES. THE FOUNDATION HAS MADE GAINS IN ACHIEVING STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT AND CONNECTION AND SUPPORTING RECENT CAMPAIGNS. OTHER RECENT IN-KIND DONATIONS INCLUDE ATHLETIC SHOES AND APPAREL, AS WELL AS FOOD CONTRIBUTIONS FOR STAFF AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. AND LET'S NOT FORGET GRANTS. THE FOUNDATIONS ALSO ASSISTED IN THE AWARDING OF A GRANT FOR THE STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT FROM THE NEW YORK LIFE TREASURY TO EXPAND GRIEF SUPPORT SERVICES FOR STUDENTS, AND THE HENRY COUNTY ROTARY CLUB SELECTED THE FOUNDATION AS THE BENEFICIARY OF A SCHOLARSHIP AWARD. THESE CAMPAIGNS, DONATIONS AND GRANTS ARE JUST THE BEGINNING FOR THE HENRY COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOUNDATION AND SHOWCASES THE INCREDIBLE GENEROSITY OF OUR PARTNERS, THE HENRY COUNTY COMMUNITY AND STAKEHOLDERS. ADDITIONAL MONETARY CONTRIBUTIONS MADE DURING THE GIFT FIRST CAMPAIGN INCLUDE. THE FOUNDATION HAS BEEN ABLE TO START INVESTING IN THEIR IDENTIFIED FUNDING PRIORITIES WITH THE HELP OF THE GIVE FIRST CAMPAIGN, THE STUFF THE BUS CAMPAIGN AND MONETARY DONATIONS, NEW TEACHERS WERE ABLE TO SHOP FOR SCHOOL SUPPLIES AT THE ORIENTATION FOR NEW EMPLOYEES EVENT, AND HENRY COUNTY EDUCATOR STAFF AND DEPARTMENTS CAN NOW APPLY FOR MANY GRANTS, WITH AWARDS RANGING FROM $50 TO $500. ADDITIONAL SUPPORTS HAVE BEEN PROVIDED FOR HIGH SCHOOL PROMS WHEN STUDENTS WERE EXPERIENCING FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS, COVERING THE BALANCE OF SCHOOL LUNCH DEBTS AT LOCATIONS SPECIFIED BY THE DONOR, AND SUPPORTS FOR ACTIVITIES GEARED TOWARD TEACHER AND STAFF APPRECIATION, AS WELL AS THE YOUTH LEADERSHIP AMBASSADOR SUMMIT. AS THE 2025 2026 SCHOOL YEAR PROGRESSES, THE FOUNDATION WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OPPORTUNITIES THAT ALIGN WITH THE FUNDING PRIORITIES ESTABLISHED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES. ASSESSMENTS ARE SCORED USING A FOUR LEVEL SYSTEM. BEGINNING, DEVELOPING PROFICIENT AND DISTINGUISHED LEARNERS. THESE LEVELS INDICATE HOW WELL STUDENTS HAVE GRASPED THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS OUTLINED IN GEORGIA'S STANDARDS FOR THEIR SPECIFIED GRADE LEVEL. THIS REPORT HIGHLIGHTS OUR PROGRESS IN DEVELOPING AN ABOVE CATEGORY, WHICH IS CRITICAL BECAUSE IT REFLECTS HOW WELL WE ARE REDUCING THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS PERFORMING IN THE BEGINNING LEARNER LEVEL. EVERY STUDENT WHO MOVES OUT OF THAT CATEGORY REPRESENTS MEANINGFUL GROWTH AND A STRONGER FOUNDATION FOR FUTURE SUCCESS. AT THE SAME TIME, WE REMAIN FOCUSED ON INCREASING THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS REACHING THE TOP TWO LEVELS AS WELL. THE LIST SHOWN SHOWS EXAMPLES OF THE SUPPORT PROVIDED. THE ABILITY TO APPLY AND ACCEPT THESE GRANT FUNDS WILL ALLOW US TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE IMPORTANT PROGRAMING IN OUR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS, AS WELL AS THE ACADEMY FOR ADVANCED STUDIES. AND SO THAT CAN THOSE TWO THINGS COMBINED CAN LEAD TO THE INCREASE IN FUNDING. OKAY. YOU MENTIONED ABOUT A. THAT THE SCHOOL SYSTEM SUBMIT AN ANNUAL LOCAL PLAN APPLICATION.
