ALSO TALKED ABOUT STANDARDS FOR EFFECTIVE GOVERNANCE OF GEORGIA SCHOOL SYSTEMS THAT INCLUDED EIGHT DOMAINS, AND SHE DID HIGHLIGHT THOSE. SHE TALKED ABOUT. THE ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE CONNECTED. ALL THE ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE CONNECTED TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN. AND SHE LAID OUT ALL THE DOMAINS AND HOW THEY ARE CONNECTED TO OUR COMMUNITY. SHE TALKED ABOUT THE ROLES OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, STATING THAT HIRING THE SUPERINTENDENT WHEN HIRING THE SUPERINTENDENT, IT BRINGS RESPONSIBILITY FOR STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT. SHE POINTED OUT THE FACT THAT THE SCHOOL BOARD DOES NOT RUN THE SCHOOLS. IT ENSURES THAT THE SCHOOLS ARE RUN VERY WELL. HER FINAL POINTS WAS ABOUT BOARD ETHICS, LAWS AND BEST PRACTICES FOR THE STATE OF GEORGIA. MISS COX ALSO BROUGHT ANOTHER UPDATE ON OUR LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES, AND SHE DID MENTION THAT THERE IS A LEGISLATIVE BREAKFAST FOR OUR LOCAL LEGISLATORS. AND FINALLY, MRS. SO I WAS EXCITED TO HEAR WHAT GREAT PARTICIPATION WE HAD AT ALL OF OUR COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS, AND I'M JUST SUPER EXCITED FOR THE GREAT WORK TO CONTINUE HERE IN OUR DISTRICT. AND THEN WE DID SOME POLICY WORK, AS ALWAYS, BECAUSE THAT IS THE WORK OF THE BOARD. THE COMMUNITY INSPIRED STRATEGIC PLAN BROUGHT TO LIFE BY THIS BOARD, SERVES AS A COMPASS FOR CONTINUING TO ACCELERATE LEARNING EXPERIENCES FOR ALL STUDENTS, TO BUILD EFFECTIVE SCHOOL LEADERS AND TEACHERS, TO ENSURE COMMUNITY AND STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT, TO ADVANCE STUDENT AND EMPLOYEE WELLNESS, AND TO DEVELOP A HIGH PERFORMING OPERATIONAL CULTURE, ALL WITH A CLEAR FOCUS ON PREPARING STUDENTS FOR SUCCESS FROM BIRTH TO THE TURN OF THEIR [00:10:02] TASSEL AND BEYOND. ADVANCING LEADERSHIP AND CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION, ADVANCING COMMUNITY AND STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT. ADVANCING HEALTH AND WELLNESS FOR STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES, AND ADVANCING AS A HIGH PERFORMING OPERATIONAL CULTURE. TO DATE, THIS BOARD HAS INVESTED $70 MILLION IN INITIATIVES TO SUPPORT THESE AREAS, WITH SOME RECENT ACTIONS ALIGNED TO STEM FINE ARTS, WORLD LANGUAGES, EARLY LEARNING, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, CONNECTIVITY WITH THE COMMUNITY, WRAPAROUND SERVICES, HENRY PARTNERS, THE HENRY COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOUNDATION, COUNSELING, AND AN ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING SYSTEM. MANY OF THE INITIATIVES AND TACTICS ASSOCIATED WITH THESE STRATEGIC ACTIONS HAVE REACHED COMPLETION, AND WE KNOW THAT MUCH HAS CHANGED SINCE THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR CURRENT PLAN, NOT ONLY IN HENRY COUNTY SCHOOLS AND IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY, BUT ALSO ACROSS THE NATION AND BEYOND. WE ARE NOW READY TO BEGIN PLANNING FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT. TO ASSIST WITH THE FACILITATION OF THE STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS, WE HAVE PARTNERED WITH THE GEORGIA SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION, ALSO KNOWN AS GSBA, AND THEY WILL GUIDE US THROUGH THIS CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT MODEL WHERE TEAMS OF STAKEHOLDERS WILL DISCUSS THE VISION, MISSION AND CORE BELIEFS OF THIS BOARD AS A COMPASS FOR DEVELOPING FUTURE STRATEGIC PRIORITIES. THESE TEAMS WILL REVIEW PERFORMANCE DATA, FINANCIAL DATA, AND COMMUNITY FEEDBACK DATA TO UNDERSTAND WHERE THE DISTRICT IS CURRENTLY. PRIOR TO ESTABLISHING STRATEGIC GOAL AREAS AND PRIORITIES BASED ON THE IDENTIFIED GOALS, PERFORMANCE, OBJECTIVES, MEASURES AND TARGETS WILL BE DEFINED BEFORE INITIATIVES AND ACTIONS ARE ARTICULATED. THE FIRST PHASE OF STRATEGIC PLAN DEVELOPMENT BEGAN IN SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER THROUGH SEVERAL STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES, WITH TEN CLUSTER COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS THAT SAW OVER 600 PARTICIPANTS, THREE ADVISORY MEETINGS THAT INCLUDED MORE THAN 50 PARENT STAFF AND STUDENTS WHO CURRENTLY SERVE ON SUPERINTENDENT ADVISORY TEAMS, AND 1788 RESPONSES TO AN ONLINE COMMUNITY SURVEY THAT CLOSED ON OCTOBER THE 31ST. WE ARE CONFIDENT THAT THE INFORMATION WE ARE GATHERING REPRESENTS A CROSS-SECTION OF INPUT FROM STUDENTS, STAFF, FAMILIES AND THE HENRY COUNTY COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE. FEEDBACK RECEIVED DURING IN-PERSON OPPORTUNITIES, SUCH AS THE CLUSTER COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS AND THE ADVISORY MEETINGS, IS CURRENTLY BEING COMPILED AND DISAGGREGATED. HOWEVER, WE DO HAVE PRELIMINARY DATA FROM THE ONLINE SURVEY THAT IS BEING SHARED WITH YOU TODAY. PRELIMINARY REVIEW OF THE COMMUNITY SURVEY RESPONSES TELLS US THAT 61% OF RESPONDENTS ARE PARENTS OR GUARDIANS, 23% ARE TEACHERS, 18% ARE OTHER SCHOOL EMPLOYEES, AND 5% ARE COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS. OF THE 1788 RESPONDENTS, 26% IDENTIFIED DUAL ENROLLMENT OPPORTUNITIES AS AN AREA OF STRENGTH, WITH THE SECONDARY STRENGTH AND THE FOCUS ON STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT COMING IN AT 25% OF RESPONDENTS. THERE IS A TIE FOR THIRD HIGHEST STRENGTH, WITH 20% OF RESPONDENTS IDENTIFYING OUR COMMUNICATION PRACTICES AS WELL AS OUR FOCUS ON SAFE LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS AS STANDOUT AREAS. AND WHILE WE VALUE THE POSITIVE INPUT FROM OUR COMMUNITY, WE ALSO VALUE THEIR FEEDBACK AND IDENTIFYING AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT. 31% OF RESPONDENTS IDENTIFIED THE RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION OF HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS AS OUR HIGHEST AREA FOR IMPROVEMENT, FOLLOWED BY THE QUALITY OF INSTRUCTION WITH 16% OF RESPONDENTS AND LEVEL OF PARENTAL SUPPORT, WITH 14% OF RESPONDENTS. THE STAKEHOLDER FEEDBACK WILL BE USED BY THE PLANNING TEAM IN JANUARY 2026 TO SET THE STRATEGIC VISION OF THE NEW STRATEGIC PLAN. THIS TEAM, CONSISTING OF ROUGHLY 60 MEMBERS, WILL INCLUDE BOARD OF EDUCATION MEMBERS, DISTRICT ADMINISTRATORS, PRINCIPALS, TEACHERS, STUDENTS, PARENTS, COMMUNITY MEMBERS, BUSINESS REPRESENTATIVES, AND FAITH BASED PARTNERS. IN ADDITION TO EVALUATING AND REFLECTING ON OUR CURRENT MISSION, VISION, AND CORE BELIEFS, THEY WILL IDENTIFY GOALS AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES TO GUIDE THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW STRATEGIC ACTIONS. IN FEBRUARY 20TH 25TH FEBRUARY 2026, THE ACTION TEAM WILL TAKE THE INITIAL WORK OF THE PLANNING TEAM AND WILL SET THE GROUNDWORK FOR THE FIRST 12 TO 18 MONTHS OF THE NEW STRATEGIC PLAN BY DEVELOPING PERFORMANCE MEASURES AND TARGETS, AS WELL AS INITIATIVES AND ACTION STEPS. THIS TEAM, CONSISTING OF DISTRICT OFFICE STAFF, PRINCIPALS AND TEACHERS, WILL CRAFT THE WRITTEN COMPONENTS OF THE PLAN WITH AN EXPECTED IMPLEMENTATION BEGINNING JULY 2026. DISTRICT AND SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE IDENTIFIED ACTIONS WILL BE MONITORED TO ENSURE OPERATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS FOR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT. AS WE LOOK TO THE FUTURE, WE HAVE LEARNED SOME KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM IMPLEMENTATION OF OUR CURRENT PLAN THAT WILL GUIDE IMPROVEMENTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT [00:15:03] AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NEW STRATEGIC PLAN. WE'RE NOW ANALYZING THE RESULTS OF THE FEEDBACK RECEIVED IN PREPARATION FOR THE PLANNING AND ACTION TEAM MEETINGS. IN JANUARY AND FEBRUARY. AT THE CORE OF OUR WELLNESS EFFORTS, OUR CARE TEAMS, WHICH OPERATE IN EVERY SCHOOL ACROSS THE DISTRICT.
